Verbal correspondence can be defined as the relation between the verbal and the non-verbal behavior of an individual. This study aimed to do a survey, in national and international journals related to verbal correspondence, from 1960 to 2008. The key-words related to the subject of verbal correspondence, researched in the following electronic databases were: Indexpsi, Psychinfo, Scielo, Bireme, Lilacs, JABA and JEAB. It was found 60 publications related to the theme, 93,33% of them were international and 6,66 brazilian. It is concluded that the production on the subject is still very scarce in Brazil. However, there is a great variety of methodologies, which facilitates to understand the phenomenon of the verbal correspondence.
