WOLTER, Rafael Pecly. Effect of context in evaluating a social object: the case of a collective mobilization in France. Temas psicol. [online]. 2011, vol.19, n.1, pp. 139-146. ISSN 1413-389X.

We think that while an object is related to mass arousals, its affective dimension will be over activated, which shall be translated as polarized attitudes. That affective polarization linked to arousals and to the crowds would be unstable. In this experimental study there were 2 independent variables. We have manipulated label affectivity with two modalities (affective label vs non-affective label) and questionnaire administration occasion (during manifestations and 6 months later). The 187 participants should evaluate with Likert scales juridical characteristics associated to one of the two labels. Results show that rejection polarization is produced only by the affective label and during manifestations (significant at p <.001). Those results lead us to think that these strongly polarized objects would not be social representations notably due to their instability
