This article aimed to analyze the experience of parenthood through the perceptions and feelings of fathers who went through a divorce. An exploratory and descriptive method with qualitative data analysis was conducted. Were interviewed three fathers who had children, aged between 3 and 16 years old, selected through a Service for free Legal Assistance. Data were analyzed using content analysis and the results are presented in three categories: feelings of the father after divorce, relationship of this father with the caregiver (mother and/or grandparents) and participation in the lives of their children. The report of these parents indicate a wish for a greater involvement in their children's life, not only in a financial way, but also in an affective way. Moreover, the characteristics of the relationship that these fathers establish with their ex-wives and the child's grandparents are reflected in the possibilities of contact with children. These aspects compose the evaluation of parents about the quality of bond kept between them and their children after divorce.
