Abstract

COSTA, Carlos Eduardo; SOARES, Paulo Guerra  and  RAMOS, Murilo Nogueira. Stimulus control and behavior history: a replication of Freeman and Lattal (1992). Temas psicol. [online]. 2012, vol.20, n.1, pp. 273-288. ISSN 1413-389X.

Four female undergraduates were exposed to a multiple FR-DRL, the effects of this history were assessed over a subsequent exposure to a multiple FI-FI. In the first phase, the color of the response button was different during each schedule component and the parameter of the FR was adjusted to match reinforcement rate across components. During the multiple FI-FI, the colors of the response button were the same as in the previous phase. The duration of the FI interval was calculated based on the participant's performance on the previous phase. When exposed to the multiple FR-DRL, participants emitted high and low rates of responding during the FR and DRL, respectively. Under the multiple FI-FI, response rates were higher in the presence of the stimulus previously correlated with the FR and lower when the stimulus had been previously correlated with the DRL, for three out of four participants. For one participant, responding became gradually under control of the multiple FI-FI.
