GIACOMONI, Claudia Hofheinz; SOUZA, Luciana Karine de  y  HUTZ, Claudio Simon. Positive and negative life events in children. Temas psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.24, n.4, pp. 1421-1435. ISSN 1413-389X.  http://dx.doi.org/10.9788/TP2016.4-13.

Research on subjective well-being and life satisfaction in children also analyze self-reported life events. This study investigated which life events, positive and negative, are more frequent in the lives of Brazilian children, according to their own view. We also conducted gender, type of school, and age range comparisons. Two hundred children (5- to 12 years old) were individually interviewed, and their answers were submitted to content analyzes. The most cited positive life events were family (mainly by girls), leisure, friendship (highlighted by 11-12 years-old children), school, and presents. The negative life events more frequently mentioned were death (mostly referred by girls, and not mentioned at all by 5-6 year-old's), family conflicts, privations (lack of money, lack of company as in staying home alone), health/diseases, and friendship conflicts (mainly cited by 5-6 year-old's). Results are similar to the international and national scientific literature. We present recommendations for clinical and educational interventions.
