Abstract

GONDAR, Jô. Ferenczi and the dream. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2013, vol.35, n.29, pp. 27-39. ISSN 1413-6295.

The paper deals with traumatic dreams and the way Ferenczi proposed his theoretical and clinical approach. In the first part, Ferenczian ideas about trauma are placed in context. The second part presents Ferenczian theory about dreams. There, traumatic dreams cease to be an exception to the rule - as in Freud's understanding - and become the very model of dream functioning. The third part of the paper discusses the implications of this theory in clinical psychoanalysis, emphasizing how figurability allows more direct access to the patient's sensitive impressions.

Keywords : Psychoanalytic clinic; Sándor Ferenczi; dream; trauma; figurability.
