Abstract

FERRAZ, Maria Cristina Franco. Mutations of contemporary subjectivity: performance and evaluation. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.30, pp. 31-41. ISSN 1413-6295.

As stressed by Alain Ehrenberg, the cult of achievement and optimal performance has become an imperative of our liberal advanced societies. This cult is articulated with the intensification of permanent and continuous forms of evaluation which tend to become incorporated. This new regime should be distinguished from disciplinary pressures and modern normativity. Inspired by some European philosophers such as José Gil and Barbara Cassin, this article investigates the logics implied in the present diagram of evaluation, which introjects and disseminates sensations of incompetence, frustration and inferiority. Without this understanding, one tends to reflect and suffer the consequences of new and asfixiating imperatives, related to the accelerated functionning of late capitalism.

Keywords : Evaluation; performance; contemporary culture.
