Abstract

PEREIRA, Douglas Rodrigo  and  MIGLIAVACCA, Eva Maria. Aspects of compulsion to repeat in drug addiction. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.30, pp. 71-87. ISSN 1413-6295.

In this paper we present some aspects of the compulsion to repeat in drug addiction, highlighting: a) the tendency to use acting-out (Agieren) as a means of achieving the discharge of drive excess; b) the work of the death instinct; c) the coercion to repeat drug intake; d) impulsivity, and e) repetition as an attempt to promote the work of Bindung. We emphasize that these aspects are not mutually exclusive and cannot be verified in all cases. However, they are elements that, to different degrees, can be identified as part of a way of relation between the subject and the object of his passion, in this case, the drug in itself.

Keywords : Compulsion to repeat; repetition; drug addiction; death drive; acting-out.
