Abstract

MARSILLAC, Ana Lúcia Mandelli de. Utopian Openings: research, art and psychoanalysis. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.31, pp. 11-31. ISSN 1413-6295.

This text presents the thesis: " Utopian openings: singularities of political art in the '70s", as the result of a research on the operations of Brazilian artists Cildo Meireles and Paul Bruscky and the Catalan collective, Grup de Treball, during the'70s. The research, which was grounded on psychoanalysis and history, theory and criticism of contemporary art, focuses on the acts of creation of those artists, underlining and crisscrossing the singularities of their poetical production. In times permeated by violence and dictatorial censorship, those artists had the creative act as a critical and political strategy of transformation. They reveal that the transformation of the art object, necessarily, involves a change in its objectives and its utopian dimension.

Keywords : Art; politics; utopia; psychoanalysis; the '70s; dictatorship.
