Abstract

OLIVEIRA, Humberto Moacir de  and  MEDEIROS FILHO, Amancio Borges de. On hallucinations: What Freud saw in the voices of Schreber?. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2014, vol.36, n.31, pp. 129-149. ISSN 1413-6295.

The Freudian proposition derived from the reading of Schreber's autobiography is well known: delirium is an attempt to cure in psychotic subjects. Yet hallucinatory phenomena in psychosis, as indicated by Freud, are, in general, less thoroughly examined. Once more starting from Schreber's writings, this article aims at drawing out a theory on hallucinatory symptoms from Freud's work. Such a theory might indicate the function performed by hallucination on the psychotic structure, considering, in particular, that hallucinations are more morbid than deliria as symptoms. In short terms, our intention is to bring to light what Freud has seen in psychotics' hallucinatory voices.

Keywords : Hallucination; psychosis; Freud; Schreber case.
