Abstract

PALMEIRA, Amanda Barros Pereira  and  GEWEHR, Rodrigo Barros. Is there a Weltanschauung of Psychoanalysis?. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.32, pp. 63-84. ISSN 1413-6295.

In Analytical Psychology and Weltanschauung (1928/1931), Jung raises the question of the existence of Psychoanalysis' own Weltanschauung. The notion can be considered as cognitive orientation and scheme that mediates the relation between someone and the world in a dynamical interpretation, thus situating the approximations between subject and object. Our purpose is to, through a comparative reading with The question of a Weltanschauung by Freud, investigate the implications of Jung's assertion, considering that Freud refers to Psychoanalysis as a technique and clinical method, and never as a totalizing scheme of knowledge. However, Jung insists on the fact that Psychoanalysis has a specific Weltanschauung. How fair is this statement?

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Analytical Psychology; Weltanschauung; worldview.
