Abstract

COELHO JUNIOR, Nelson Ernesto. Patterns of thirdness in contemporary psychoanalysis: its origins and its destinies. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.32, pp. 175-195. ISSN 1413-6295.

This paper seeks to present the origins and developments of the concept of thirdness in psychoanalysis. The contributions of Winnicott, Reik and the couple Baranger are discussed, as are their influences to the contemporary works of Ogden and Green on the subject. Considering the development of eight central patterns of thirdness in psychoanalysis the paper focuses on the elaboration of Ogden and Green, their similarities and differences.
