Abstract

MENDES, Luiza da Costa  and  GARCIA, Claudia Amorim. Splitting and idealization: on the impossible mourning in borderline pathologies. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.33, pp. 31-49. ISSN 1413-6295.

This paper intends to discuss the vicissitudes of the object in borderline patients faced with difficulties involved in primary relationships with the absolutely necessary object. When this object successively fails to perform its functions adequately in a very primitive moment of subjective helplessness, the psychic constitution is marked by primary traumatisms, splittings and idealizations that hinder mourning processes. As a result, there is a disruption in the psychic apparatus that prevents the construction of an empty space that favors the emergence of representations that structure thought.

Keywords : Borderline-cases; Primary traumatisms; Mourning; Splitting; Idealization.
