Abstract

COUTINHO, Luciana Gageiro. The teenager and education in contemporaneity: what psychoanalysis has to say. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2015, vol.37, n.33, pp. 155-174. ISSN 1413-6295.

The article aims to consider the issues related to the education of adolescents in the contemporary social context, as far as the psychoanalytic contributions from Freud, Winnicott and Lacan are concerned. We understand that the tension between dependence and defiance experiences, examined by Winnicott, or between alienation and separation, theorized by Lacan, is central in adolescence, thus raising many issues for parents and educators as well. These two authors point out the essential paradox faced by adolescents in relation to the representatives of the adult world: to meet /to confront in order to separate. Then we question the current social conditions for this process to take place, discussing the dilemmas concerning the education of adolescents.

Keywords : Adolescence; Education; Psychoanalysis; Social bond.
