Abstract

ARANTES, Urias. «Vous les femmes...»: Around female sexuality. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.34, pp. 245-269. ISSN 1413-6295.

This paper focuses on the recent discussions among certain French psychoanalysts about the «decline of the father», and the clinical, social, and even cultural consequences of this transformation in the process of subjectivation and transmission. This decline might be followed by a «return to matriarchy». Those psychoanalysts seem to forget the importance of feminisms and their impact on social transformations since the middle of the 19th century, and more recently, those starting in the 1960s. Hence the necessity to return to Freud's understanding of female sexuality, and to Lacan's ideas at the beginning of the 1960s: From an ideal of maternity to the recognition of female desire.
