Abstract

RIBEIRO, Thais Carneiro. Mania as a destination of Mourning. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2016, vol.38, n.35, pp. 179-189. ISSN 1413-6295.

In this paper, maniac conditions will be assumed as a destination of Mourning, thus proceeding with Freud's appeal for searching a psychoanalytic explanation to Mania. Both Melancholy and Mania have a common origin in the encounter with the loss of a loved or desired object. However, each of these conditions has its own psychic working, in which Mania is considered for its positivity beyond a mere defense regarding Melancholy. The subject is approached according to Sigmund Freud's, Melanie Klein's, and Jacques Lacan's concepts.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Mourning; Mania; Melancholy; Object; Superego; Identification.
