QUINTELLA, Rogerio Robbe; AMARAL, Rebeca Espinosa Cruz; SOUZA, Tainá Batista de  and  HENRIQUE, Fernanda Monteiro Ribeiro. The function of the consumption in the constitution of the subject and its relation with the compulsions: from Freud to nowadays. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2017, vol.39, n.36, pp. 221-241. ISSN 1413-6295.

The present article highlights the role of consumption in the subject's constitution, to think the contemporary compulsions. From Freud and Lacan advances, it demonstrates, initially, the relation between consumption, identification and ego ideal. Posteriorly, we highlight some forms of compulsion in Freud, demonstrating their intrinsic relation with the ego ideal. Today, the evanescence of the ideals and the collapse of the identificatory models promote a push to the consumption of the real object, such as the compulsion of drugs, food, buying, body, etc. Before, the superego massacred the ego in function of the ideal, today it addresses the real object . Therefore, the more the subject tries to consume the real object, the more the superego demands it.

Keywords : Consumption; Compulsion; Ego ideal; Superego; Contemporary subject.
