Abstract

HEGUEDUSCH, Carolina Villanova; JUSTO, José Sterza  and  MOLINA, José Artur. Depression in current times: psychic structure or metaphor of the psyche? A dialogue between Maria Rita Kehl and Pierre Fédida. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2017, vol.39, n.37, pp. 29-51. ISSN 1413-6295.

From the brilliant madness of the ancient philosophers to the action of black bile, from the astral influence of Saturn to the Christian acedia, from the creation to the inhibition, melancholy has been a subject which, since antiquity, instigated man's investigative curiosity. The same happens now with its successor, depression, very present nowadays in the most different discourses. This paper, far from the pretension of defining a meaning to depression, seeks to keep the debate alive by thinking it as a complex phenomenon that reveals the contemporary subjectivations. So, it is intended here to sew a dialogue between the authors Maria Rita Kehl and Pierre Fédida, who dedicated their studies to depression, agitating the psychoanalytic thought.

Keywords : Depression; Current times; Psychoanalysis.
