The purpose of this article is to approach the radical transformation of the analytical activity in the treatment of severe cases of traumatic etiology. The proposals of Ferenczi, Balint and Winnicott are worked out, since, despite their differences, they present undeniable theoretical and clinical continuity. The three authors argue that the therapeutic work with these non-neurotic patients should be based on the analyst's reliability and in the regression to the point of origin of the disorders, proposing an understanding and empathic analytical attitude and emphasizing that the most important therapeutic factor is the relational one.
