Abstract

GUERRA, Mariah Neves; BURGARELLI, Cristóvão Giovani  and  CHATELARD, Daniela. The "uncanny" logical time in the face of the disruptive photographs of Diane Arbus. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2019, vol.41, n.41, pp. 155-172. ISSN 1413-6295.

What is the time of the "uncanny"? What time is this in which the experience of facing art and being estranged by it occurs? Here I take a look at the photographs of Diane Arbus - who, in her disruptive time, portrayed her freaks, characters produced through her intimate methodology of entering their homes and daily lives. I bring this time produced by Arbus close to the theorization of Logical Time by Lacan, to reflect about the time of my experience, facing of the work of the photographer, with the "uncanny" - a notion coined by Freud in 1919 to talk about the moments in which an "uncanny" provokes the return of a familiarity hitherto radically forgotten, when we are facing it.

Keywords : Diane Arbus; Logical time; Unheimlich; Psychoanalysis; Art.
