Abstract

AZEVEDO, Creuza da Silva. Depressive processes and mourning through a Kleinian approach: the experience of the loss of a baby with a genetic malformation. Cad. psicanal. [online]. 2021, vol.43, n.45, pp. 133-151. ISSN 1413-6295.

This article addresses the topic of mourning through a Kleinian perspective, examining its relation to the depressive position. The infant psychic processes were considered in their archaic experience related to primordial objects and their effects on the mourning experiences in adulthood. A clinical case is presented in which the loss of a baby with fetal malformation prompted difficulties in mourning and the outbreak of primitive anxiety, having been a very traumatic experience for the mother. The diagnosis and the termination of pregnancy intensified an experience of birth simultaneously with death. The care received favored the elaboration of the loss and the destructive fantasies.

Keywords : Depressive position; Mourning; Fetus loss; Trauma.
