Abstract

JOVER, Eliane Rivero  and  NUNES, Maria Lúcia Tiellet. Historical construction of adolescence and its redefinition in a psychoanalytical clinic. Imaginario [online]. 2005, vol.11, n.11, pp. 15-33. ISSN 1413-666X.

The present study intends to review briefly the historical construction of the adolescence concept, until its definition as a contemporary phenomenon, according to psychoanalyst authors such as Ruffino and Calligaris. It is presented part of a research made in 2001 and 2002, based on the observation of the emphasis given in the intellectual production of psychoanalysts in relation to advise the adolescent public. Five semi-structured interviews were made in order to identify signals of the specificity in the psychoanalytically-oriented therapy of adolescents and its importance related to the redefinition of psychoanalysis theory. Their results were processed qualitatively according to Bardin’s Analysis of Content, and five analysis categories were found out: (a) How the adolescent arrives at therapy; (b) clinical adaptations; (c) social aspects of adolescence; (d) about the technique; (e) theoretical aspects. It is presented in this article the results related specifically to the category “c” - “Social aspects of adolescence”, which give us the opportunity to understand the new configurations that psychoanalysis has assumed nowadays.

Keywords : Psychoanalysis; Adolescence; History; Contemporaneity.
