ESPIRITO SANTO, Jailton do; SILVA, Joseane Souza; VELLOSO, Tatiana Ribeiro  and  SOBRINHO, Emanoel José Mendonça. Cooperjovens: a youthful experience of solidary cooperativism in the sisal region in Bahia. Imaginario [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.12, pp. 195-204. ISSN 1413-666X.

This article tells about the experience of COOPERJOVEN - Cooperativa de Produção dos Jovens da Região do Sisal, a youthful organization in the sisal region in Bahia. This cooperative was formed in 2000, aiming to the search of the adolescents’ insertion in a debate of sustainable and solidary development in the sisal territory, providing alternatives in order to conceive labor and money. Following this perspective, it was consolidated two centers where are produced recycled paper crafts, and soon a center of production of building components made of mortar reinforced with sisal fibers will be introduced as well, concerning environmental conservation and preservation. Actions related to political, technical and pedagogical formation were developed by the cooperative with some partners, which resulted in the insertion of part of the group in the labor market and in the campus of the State University of Bahia. This experience structure has been constructed not only internally but also through the practice of intercooperation of the solidary enterprises based on the creation of the Regional Agency of the Hinterland of Bahia and of the cooperative complex formation of the Hinterland Crafts. This experience is presenting referential elements and perspectives in political construction, aiming to the adolescents’ participation and productive insertion in the context of the solidary economy in semi-arid region in Bahia.
