Abstract

MOURA, Andreína da Silva  and  KOLLER, Sílvia Helena. The child in the accused men's sexual abuse vision: A study on distorted cognitions. PsicoUSF [online]. 2008, vol.13, n.1, pp. 85-94. ISSN 1413-8271.

The present study investigated the view that accused men of infantile sexual abuse possess on the child and how they conceive an ideal relationship between children and adults. The cognitive distortions are examined in the content of what is expressed and in the possibility of contextualization of the given answer. Five men, 37 to 73 years old, accused of sexual abuse against children of up to 13 years of age were interviewed. One participated spontaneously and four were compulsory referred to the service by the court. A bio socio demographic protocol and a semi-structured interview were used. A content analysis revealed the stereotyped and politically correct vision of them about children.

Keywords : Sexual abuse; Child molesters; View about children; Misconceptions.
