Abstract

SOUZA, Adriana Regina Marques de  and  SISTO, Fermino Fernandes. Writing learning disabilities, memory and contradiction. Psicol. esc. educ. [online]. 2001, vol.5, n.2, pp. 39-47. ISSN 1413-8557.

The possible relations among memory, contradiction and writing learning disabilities were studied in 80 second and third grades children of elementary school, comparing children with and without learning disabilities. 80 out 200 children were selected by the Adape (Writing learning disabilities Evaluation), 40 from the second grades and other 40 from the third grades. The subjects’ level of memory was assessed by the technique II of the simple serial configuration memory task and the level of contradiction by the full and empty task. The results showed significant differences between the level of memory and writing achievement, suggesting that the intermediate level instability produced more errors. In relation to the contradiction, its resolution possibilities suggested a great error diminution among the third grade children.
