The main object of this study was to analyze the data regarding the motivation of the students in the physical education classes. The subjects were forty students from 5th to 8th grades during the year of 1.999 in a private school. A questionnaire of ten close questions was used to determine the reasons that take them to the classes, the content of the activities, the relationship with the teacher, and the evaluation system. It was found a higher motivation level for the male students and the differences in their reason according to the gender and grade. The necessity of contribution from Psychology to this discipline was emphasized.
