The aim of this research is to describe the social practices of literacy of adolescents who are in secondary school courses, specifically reading practices. Twenty subjecto of a second grade course in secondary school have been selected, they are all from a public school in campinas city. All the data has been collected through a closed questionnaire, containing different events of literacy. The data shows that the readind practices between the adolescents are the magazine’s reading (100%), the newspaper’s reading (85%) and the book’s reading (65%). referring to differents events of literacy in the everyday, emphasize that 80% of the people interviewed read short notes and mailing. We conclude that young people search their reading according to their everyday necessities and access facilities.
