Abstract

Family, school and learning difficulties. Psicol. esc. educ. [online]. 2003, vol.7, n.2, pp. 171-178. ISSN 1413-8557.

Thinking about the role of the school psychologist, this article presents a systemic intervention in one of the schools of São José, Santa Catarina. Based on the systemic theory and the historical-cultural psychology, it was considered the necessity of amplifying the view of “problem child” to the understanding of the systems where the child directly lives: family and school. Therefore, families, teachers and students took part in some meetings with the psychologist in order to create other meanings to the difficulty presented at school. The objective of the interventions was to circulate the responsibility of the “problem” among the members who took part in the meeting. The article makes it possible to the specialists in education to think of new ways of intervention without stigmatize the student.

Keywords : Systemic interventions; Learning difficulties; Family-school relations.
