This study is part of a process that aims at to adapt to the Brazilian reality a scale for assessment of the children’s temperament and adolescents. It was used the Pavlovian Temperament Survey - PTS - version 7 to 14 years, built in Germany and destined to evaluate the behavioral expression Central Nervous System’s properties, as understood by Pavlov. The PTS is composed by 252 items and it evaluates three temperament dimensions: Strength of Excitation, Strength of Inhibition and Mobility. It’s adaptation involved the translation process, backtranslation and comparison between the original version to the Portuguese and backtranslation for German. Successive analyses and revisions were accomplished until the items of the instrument were adapted and presented in a clear language, assuring the understanding for the parents or caregivers. In preliminary studies, the PTS version 7 to 14 years obtained satisfactory consistence interns and favorable indicators of validity.
