ALENCAR, Eunice M. L. Soriano de; FELDHUSEN, John F.  y  FRENCH, Brian. Identifying talents, career aspirations and people most admired among students. Psicol. esc. educ. [online]. 2004, vol.8, n.1, pp. 11-16. ISSN 1413-8557.

The purpose of the study was to identify the talents students attribute to themselves, areas they hope to pursue careers, people they admire and activities related to their talents that they have participated in. One hundred and eleven students from a satellite city from the Federal District, responded the questionnaire “My Talents”, constructed by the second author. Sports, drama, writing/poetry, mathematics, and computers were their major areas of talent, while sports and arts were the activities or courses participants reported being more frequently involved in related to their talent strengths. The major areas in which they hope to pursue careers were in the arts, medical sciences, science, engineering and law. Although father and mother were named more frequently as the people they admire most, in the majority of cases parents were not the models for their career aspirations.

Palabras clave : Talent; Career aspirations; Extra-curricular activities.
