This study investigated pedagogical work organization’s components and personal/individual’s elements which act as facilitating or inhibiting factors to the History teacher’s creativity expression. The tarticipants were 16 5th to 8th grade History teachers from 5 public and 5 private schools in Brasília, Federal District. Data were obtained through semi-structured interviews. A content analysis was used to analyze the data. Several factors that promote and limit creativity in teaching were identified. Freedom and passionate love for the work were the most outstanding facilitators. Dificulties in the teacher-student relationship were pointed as the most frequent constraint. This study contributes to uncovering some aspects which hinder teacher´s creative expression and others which characterize a favorable environment to the creativity expression of teachers.
