The development of gifted behaviors impose new challenges and demands to the gifted individuals themselves and their relatives, who in certain occasions do not have enough knowledge to assist these individuals. Hence, the main objective of this study is to critically synthesize and analyze the investigations conducted on the relationship between the gifted and his/her family in the areas related to sports, music, arts and academic studies.. They reveal a great variety of parental practices and family characteristics associated to the development of gifted behaviors.
