Abstract

YVON, Frédéric  and  CLOT, Yves. Learning and development via teacher’s profession analysis. Psicol. educ. [online]. 2004, n.19, pp. 11-38. ISSN 1414-6975.

The aim of the article is to demonstrate how the relation between learning and development can be articulated in the concept of activity, especially in that of the educator. For such, it discusses: a) the definition of activity employed; b) the methodology followed to deal with the notion of activity from the point of view of the relationship between learning and development; c) the relation among learning, development and activity. Based on the ideas of Vygotski and Baktine, the authors make a distinction between role and activity, to show, next, how the analysis of work, which initially focus the objects to be known (the activity) can furnish to the workers who shall benefit from it, an occasion to learn (or to appropriate of a gender of activity or, better saying, of a process of formative interaction) and to develop, enriching their experience in an even basis. The article ends providing an example of how to employ the suggested methodology for analysing teachers’ work, indicating how the results can be linked to Vygotski ideas about the relationship between learning and development.
