Abstract

FURLANETTO, Ecleide Cunico. Continuing education of teachers: symbolic aspects. Psicol. educ. [online]. 2004, n.19, pp. 39-53. ISSN 1414-6975.

This article is based on a study developed in an Elementary School located in Heliópolis in the city of São Paulo. The objective of this study was to contribute with new elements with wich to rethink the continuing formation of teachers, and in this manner increase the understanding of how this formation is given. The investigation began with an exercise of symbolic listening to what the teachers were saying. One of the problems to arise was insubordination. Through Jungian movements, known as circumduction, amplification and reconstellation, we began to approach the problem which was transformed into a symbol. Through the elaboration of this problem, the teachers were able to give new meaning to the attitudes of the students, as well as develop pedagogic practices which are more syntonized with the needs of the educational community.

Keywords : Continuing formation of teachers; Symbol; Education.
