Abstract

MOROZ, Melania  and  RUBANO, Denize Rosana. Subjetividad: the interpretation of radical behaviorism. Psicologia da educação [online]. 2005, n.20, pp. 119-135. ISSN 1414-6975.

In books published in Brazil that deal with teacher education, it is frequently stated that radical behaviorism ignores events as conscience, feelings, mind. As such statements are not things of the past, but, instead, they are present in recently published texts, it becomes important to examine Skinner's conception of human subjectivity. This paper presents Skinner's view on private events - a fundamental concept in his theory - focusing on their nature, their explanative status and their social determination. It also discusses the way in which Skinner deals with self-knowledge and self-control, pointing to some relations to education.

Keywords : Radical behaviorism; Subjectivity; Private events.
