Abstract

COLE, Sary Calonge. Mediatic representation: theory and method. Psicol. educ. [online]. 2006, n.23, pp. 75-102. ISSN 1414-6975.

In this paper the theoretical and methodological foundations of the study of Mediatic Representation (MR) are presented. The theoretical characterization is seen in terms of its conceptual substratum which corresponds with Moscovici's Social Representation theory which provides the grounding for a field of investigation dealing with the social construction of identity. From this, the two major dimensions of Mediatic Representation (MR) are constructed: the cognitive and the pragmatic one. For the study of this kind of representation the analysis in made on the basis of three theoretical constructs: diffusion, the reading contract and personal implication. With these notions and its theoretical foundations a procedure to the study of MR is devised.

Keywords : Mediatic representation; social representation; diffusion; reading contract; contents and sources of information.
