This paper deals with teachers´identity, how is it constructed and explained, giving special priority to the role of college education in this process. It discusses research data collected with teachers from the Araguaia, who just got their certification in a special project at Unemat (State University of Mato Grosso). In order to conduct the investigation the methodoligal procedure was the meaningful net which used interviews, review of literature, document analysis and local data of the region where the teachers used to live.
