This paper presents, in line with a cultural-historical approach, an understanding of the teaching and learning process of the circus art and its mediation in the constitution of the subject. It was spoken to trainers of a circus school and twelve apprentices for the development of the research. By using interviews and observing the performers in the circus ring, it was possible to produce information on the manner in which the learner define the circus art and the relationship established between them to the circus and to the circus teachers. The results pointed out that teaching and learning process is possible through the body, but it has constituted new cognitive process in this process. Therefore, the apprentice body is a body affected by the meeting to the others and has increased their potency for action, their possibility of being a subject who learns, and it has been made possible by their immersion in the circus art.

Palabras clave : circus art; teaching-learning; potency of action.
