Abstract

The article aims to reflect on the need of aesthetics and ethics for the school curriculum in the XXI century. It considers limits and possibilities of the historical process of school education and seeks to locate the school institution as a space/time to form the human being. Affirming the importance of the scientific-technical, the article points out the necessity of arts and the development of an "aesthetic eye" that could broad the possibilities of reading and(re) writing the world; the need of ethics as critical to the development of a free and autonomous subject that preserve the fundamental principles related to the construction of decent life. It argues that aesthetics and ethics assist in qualifying and the upgrade of school education towards building a world with less inequality and injustice.
