In this study we aim at analyzing what the researchers in the area of School and Educational Psychology in Brazil think about the role of psychologists in Education, considering the movement of critical current in the area. For this purpose, we surveyed the academic production in the area of Educational and School Psychology published in books and collections in the period from 2000 to 2007. We found 36 works on the subject, six books and 30 collections in which we analyzed 131 chapters. Most publications refers to proposals for intervention in highlighting the importance of understand how to give the relations in which the school complaint is produced; in understanding the school as the principal agent of social integration; in articulating the family history with the school history; in including teachers in the intervention process; in finding the context in which they produce and express individual conflicts, among others. In general, these works present proposals for practicing psychologists in Basic Education in an ethical-political dimension.
