GOMES, Ramon Cerqueira; PADOVANI, Andrea Sandoval; DAZZANI, Maria Virgínia Machado  and  RISTUM, Marilena. Meanings constructed by adolescents about the process of schooling. Psicol. educ. [online]. 2014, n.39, pp. 75-88. ISSN 1414-6975.

The theory that justified this study was the Historical-Cultural Psychology, using the concepts of adolescence and education. It was used the technique of narrative interview, in which it was required two participants recount the memories related to the school life since they entered in kindergarten until the present. To data analysis it were constructed thematic areas and categories based on the discourse of the participants. The results indicated that the meanings of the educational process are related to I) the constructed meanings about education while promoting socialization and the self-concept , and II) the meaning built on the relationships established in these spaces. The construction of identity and socialization and the importance of interpersonal relationships in the school context both with teachers and with peers, they appeared in moments of school life, sometimes as protective, sometimes as risk factors for academic trajectory. The comprehension of the meanings constructed by these adolescents about the schooling process can help to identify which aspects of the school experience are significant for academic trajectory.
