COUTINHO, André Feliphe Jales; OLIVEIRA, Kamilla Sthefany Andrade de  e  BARRETO, Maria da Apresentação. Psychology at school: (re)thinking pedagogic practices. Psicol. educ. [online]. 2015, n.40, pp. 103-114. ISSN 1414-6975.

Among the diversity of theoretical views that seek to comprehend teaching and learning processes, the historical-cultural approach argues that this is a process in which the subject learner has active role in the construction of knowledge and may be influenced by the context and the mediator. Through this perspective, seeking the construction of knowledge about possible interventions of psychologists in school, the teacher becomes a key player in planning/executing actions. This work reports an initiative of the Department of Psychology at UFRN in a public school of Natal-RN. The project aimed to rethinking, with teachers, coordinators and staff, the pedagogical practices developed in day-to-day school activities. The intervention was developed during one semester. Four teachers and four classes of students participated in this initiative. We used as methodological strategy the active listening group circle as well as various techniques according to the demands of students. It was an opportunity to bond the university outreach group of psychologist students to the schooling context, raising lessons of theory and practice. The strategies used to understand the context and intervene within this context, and the positive assessment by faculty, managers, and students, highlight the importance of such study. This represented a further step toward the construction of practices between trainees and trainers of psychology who indicate new paths that go beyond traditional ones, which required psychology to help "fix" the "students-problems". Rather than acceding to this demand, we opted to question the reductionist approach regarding such complaints.
