This article is based on part of a masters thesis presented to P.U.C. about the process of identity construction in socially outcast young people. To understand the category identity it makes use of references developed by Antonio da Costa Ciampa, Habermas’s Berger’s and Luckman’s contributions and also Moffat’s references to life project. The article analises and socially situates the life story of one subject. lt verifies how this condition is intrinsically related to the construction of the representations of himself, and in which way it interferes in his fife project, which is one of the elements of identity. Finally it focuses on the representations the subject has of work and of the careers he intends to choose, showing the dialectic relation between these aspects.
