The aim of this work was to evaluate the problem of the career rechoice in the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). The researched population corresponded to the 4424 candidates who applied to the UFSC selection test (vestibular) in 1997, which declared to have already initiated any other undergraduation programs. The most part of the investigated population (91,6%) either abandoned or is still attending another college program, what reflects an unsatisfaction with the first career choice. The data were useful to better characterize this population and to analyze the possible relationship with the phenomenon of drop out in college programs.
