This article discusses the training of the psychologist during the graduation in Psychology as a creative and reflexive professional counselor, indicating three aspects of this training: the theoretical knowledge, the practical skill and the personal condition. Thus, the teacher’s function concerning his/her responsibility when choosing and manufacturing knowledge (the content) to be taught is examined and the necessary distinction between the teacher’s role of educator and psychologist is defined. In addition, the importance of the activities of professional orientation training linked to the pedagogic project of the course is emphasised. Next, three components which are part of the basic content of professional orientation training are highlighted: theories of choice and professional orientation, working modalities (methods) and fields of performance, drawing attention to the need for providing students a broad and critic view of the professional orientation. The last part of this article is dedicated to a brief description of the process of construction of Serviço de Psicologia e Orientação Profissional da UNISUL - SEPOP, as well as its achievements and challenges.
