This is a reflective article that has as objective the analysis of the social psychology problematic of the bus drivers work in the city of Recife that daily come to the Department of Psychology of the DETRAN-PE. For such work we used previous work as the one carried out in Foundation Joaquim Nabuco in Recife, Leny Sato in São Paulo and Ramos in Rio de Janeiro. Rationalization, individualism and passivity were identified as the main strategies. The use of these defenses allows the worker to keep his psychic balance and, simultaneously, colaborates to the alienation of the causes of his suffering, thus creating handcaps to the worker’s situations process of change.
