This paper makes a reflection about the institutional reality of shelters for children and adolescents showing through the speech of adolescents as they themselves show it and the importance of rethinking, reclaiming, and investing in the institutional universe as well, overcoming the stigmas that accompany the reality of institutions as a place of “failure”, permitting it to be seen as a place of possibilities, acceptance, affection and protection, which as a matter of fact determined its origin. Under this perspective the text emphasizes the importance of the intervention of Psychology in the institutions helping them through an advisory work regarding the act of facing prejudice, difficulties and conflicts that characterize its operation/functioning.
