This is an exploratory study of nonmaternity's dimensions, based on eight childless women experiences, aged 40/50. Through qualitative analysis of interviews and a psychosocial approach, it was sought to understand and overcome the traditional and stigmatized approach of nonmaternity, as well as to highlight the complexity of such experience taking place in the intersection of history, culture, family and personality. Nonmaternity appears as a multifaceted experience with diverse meanings, not only to the different women who have been interviewed but also to each one of them in particular, depending on the perspective and the moment in which she was assessed in the course of time.
