GRISCI, Carmem Ligia Iochins  and  CARVALHO, Maria Luisa. Management and of impression and selecting interview: chameleons in spot. Psicol. cienc. prof. [online]. 2004, vol.24, n.2, pp. 72-85. ISSN 1414-9893.

This research discusses the relationships among the impression management (IM) and the behavior of applicants for intermediate management positions and job interviewers. This is an exploratory research developed at two human resources consulting companies. The subjects were 30 applicants and 4 job interviewers. The data were collected through individual interviews, direct observation and documentary sources and the analysis was made based on the theoretical references. The results indicate that applicants and interviewers use IM strategies and tatics in the job interview . There is a homogenization of the guidelines given to the applicants, as well as their behavior, during the job interview, that results in subjectification strategies or types of creation of lifestyles that build chameleonic individuals.

Keywords : Impression management; Job interviews; Human resources; Subjectivity.
