In reference to the current reorganization of the public health care system of Brazilian people, this study aims to contribute with theories about the possibilities of performance of the practitioners of Psychology in the Health Care Family Program, considering the scarcity of literature about this theme, due to the fact that at the moment there are few psychologists carrying on activities on basic health attention who are recommended by the program. In this perspective, it's important to observe the contextual aspects and also more humane aid on service, as well as the incentive towards the autonomy of the consumer of the public service aiming at the multidimensionality of the actions. We highlight especially actions that focalize prevention and health promotion, making it possible to offer a better quality of life to the community attended, what becomes a proposal for the insertion of these referred practitioners in the Health Care Family Program.
